Description
The PPG Wave 2 is a hybrid synthesizer released in 1982 by German company PPG. It features digital oscillators and analog filters, offering a unique sound characterized by wavetable synthesis. The Wave 2 was influential in the early-to-mid 1980s and was used by artists such as Thomas Dolby and Tangerine Dream. Its design combines a clunky five-octave keyboard with an LCD display and numeric keypad, giving users access to over 2000 waveforms for modulation and real-time manipulation.
